WEEKLY REFLECTION : PEER TEACHING (offline)

 Weekly reflection : Peer teaching ( Offline)

            As part of B Ed Curriculum , the second phase of the teaching practice contains 30 lessons. But due to this COVID pandemic situation, the school internship program was divided into peer teaching( both online and offline) and face-to-face online teaching.  We all successfully completed our internship by following our beloved teachers instructions. The peer teaching and face to face teaching were in online mode with the support of science and majority of classes were taken through Google meet.

Class 1-7(Offline) : 

The offline peer teaching was started from 25-02-2021onwards. I could covered  topics from 9 th  class, Biology.We,the six members of Natural science was divided into two groups and Take the class confidently. After establishing a good rapport with the peers, I entered into the topic Nutrients and parts of digestive system from the chapter ‘Food through digestive tract' of class IX. I taught the concept with the help of  images ICT and through activities. Finally, I made a good review from my peer understanding and follow up activities were given at the end of the class.  I got an opportunity to taught and watch the classes of my other friends from other optional subjects  and it was a wonderful experience to me and I  observed the different methods adopted by them and learns how to take the class more effectively. From these classes,I found out that , I must be gave more activities to enrich the skils, should neatly written on black board, and should improve my classroom management skill . I completed the 2 nd unit and started the next unit in the last peer offline class. 

Class 8-15 ( online) : 

The balance 8 classes of peer teaching were conducted online through Google meet. I thought that it was quite easier than offline teaching. I could got much time and could avoid the noise in the class. I could show the picture,video and other activities very effectively. In these classes I taught ‘photosynthesis’ the fifth chapter of 8th standard. My Peer gave much response that enable me to take the class confidently. I could deliver the content clearly and effectively. I used powerpoint slides and pictures to study the topic. 

From the peer teaching I was able to achieve all my objectives. The strengths of my teaching were my audible sound, activities, way of presentations, proper and efficient use of blackboard. I improved my language, use ICT  and proper adjustment of phone from peer and teacher evaluation. Over all, we all made the peer teaching as an unforgettable teaching experience through online mode as we were able to overcome the fears of using online mode of teaching. We were anxious about the online method, but after the first class, we came to rectify the mistakes in using phone, board, lighting etc. and from next day onwards we were in a comfortable state to proceed with the classes. Peer teaching was completed on 8 th February 2021.
