WEEKLY REFLECTION : FACE TO FACE TEACHING ( online)

 Weekly reflection : Face to face teaching

Class 16-22 : 

After the peer teaching, we start our face to face teaching by teaching the school students arranged by our teachers.Igot the 9th standard students of CFHS , Kottiyam. The classes were conducted through online with the help of Google meet. Our teaching practice started from 09-02-2021 onwards. As per schedule I started my first class to IX th class. At 2:00 pm onwards class started. The class duration is 30minutes and there were 20 students  in my class. They were very actively participated in my class, it gave me more confidence to take the class. Every day we sent the Google meet link through the WhatsApp group. I selected the 5th unit of class IX Excretion to teach and familiarize the importance of kidney and briefly describe it’s functioning.

I taught the unit Excretion by using Models, activities, photo and video presentation. I introduced each concept in a systematic way and helped them to easily catch up the concepts. The activities, photo and video presentation on online arouses interest in students in the learning process. I am so confident in teaching and helped them to increase level of understanding. I achieved all my goals. The improvement from peer teaching helped me to overcome the technical problems occurred in face-to-face teaching. Within 7 days, I completed the chapter on 13 th February and covered the topics excretory organs, urine formation, excretion in plants and animals ,etc. Then I conducted an achievement test to check whether they understood the topic clearly or not. All the students send the answers to me and I corrected it. Some of them got high marks. Then I started the next chapter body movements and taught a small portion of it. At first I felt a little fear,to take the class, later I stood confidently.



Class 23-30 : 

In this week, I covered the chapter, body movements and conduct a diagnostic test.The chapter was quite difficult, so I use an noval way of teaching. I adopted models of teaching and engaged the students in the learning process. I conducted a diagnostic test and check the difficult area . Then I showed a model of joints and taught the topic again. Now they were clearly understood it, and I gave reward to the student who got highest mark in the test.

I improved  all my weaknesses and avoided minute mistakes that happens during the teaching process. A group of attentive students was the main factor behind the success of the face-to-face online teaching. This experience boosted our confidence as we are capable of taking classes in the online and offline mode equally.

From the teaching practice I understood it was difficult to be a teacher and I am ready to struggle to overcome all the difficulties and challenges to become a teacher.
